AUGUST 2nd MEETING SPEAKER'S TOPIC :
SAFETY IN COPING WITH STORM RELATED HAZARDS
NARL's guest speaker for August will be Cliff Cayer, K1IFF, a manager in Northeast Utilities' Services organization. His presentation will center around those things that he feels we need to know about electric system safety, particularly in storm-related situations and some general safety topics that should be of interest to all. His presentation will include several short videos that will hopefully educate everyone on what to do and what not to do in storm situations, and in our everyday lives around "the shack". Cliff's organization provides common strategic and operational support for NU such as systemwide safety, skills training, fleet management, emergency preparedness & restoration, operational planning, performance and analysis, and distribution engineering, which includes vegetation management (tree trimming). Cliff has been licensed since 1968. He served as Technical Vice President for the Insurance City Repeater Club during the 1980's and early 90's, responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of their VHF and UHF repeater systems in Bristol and Burlington on 146.88 and 147.15.
